Kudos to Hunter Adams for setting a new rushing yardage record in first year. He broke the Ava High School freshman rushing record last Friday night against Thayer. The previous record was set by Chance Dry who had 713 yards in his first year in 2003. Hunter currently has 744 yards with at least three games to play this season.

District football rankings for local teams. West Plains sits atop District 6 in Class 4 and will more than likely end up with the No. 1 seed if there are no more bumps. Mountain Grove is in fourth place, but with a few more wins there is a possibility they could move up to second place when all is said and done. Class 2, District 3, Ava is in first place and is a lock for the field once the district playoffs begin, Liberty is the third seed but could move up to second place if he wins and gets a little help. Houston is at # 6 and Willow Springs at # 7. Class 1 District 3 Thayer is at 2 and that’s more than likely where they will end up and Cabool is at # 5. District football is just around the corner, the first round will be played on Friday evening 29 Octobere.

On Saturday, the 3 and 3 Mizzou Tigers host 4-2 Texas A&M which last Saturday beat # 1 Alabama. Pre-game at 9 a.m. and kick-off at 11 a.m., all in Q94.
