SCA Director of Content Dave Cameron said: “We are very pleased to see 2DayFM’s growth in terms of audience share and aggregate, which goes against the declining trend of share from all other competing FM stations in a tough lockdown environment. It is also very encouraging to see the 2DayFM Morning shift with Hughsey, Ed and Erin as the only FM Breakfast show to increase audiences in Sydney, where the lack of commuting continues to largely affect breakfast and boost listening behaviors.

“2DayFM is at the start of its new growth journey with a new Breakfast show which still settles in Sydney alongside its ’90’s to Now’ music format. Today for 2Day is a promising result.”

Triple M also delivered a good result given Sydney’s foreclosure situation and held breakfast with Moonman in the morning in difficult COVID market conditions.

Melbourne’s severe and continued COVID lockdown conditions have affected listening behaviors in traditional drop-off and pick-up times for commuting / school trips, but not to the same extent as in 2020. The Fox is strong in tough conditions, still delivering Melbourne’s largest Breakfast FM audience with Fifi, Fev and Nick.

“Triple M’s last breakfast, The Marty Sheargold Show has grown its share as it continues to settle and grow its following and establish itself as Triple M’s next big comedic breakfast that is unlike anything else in town. Marty’s 3 p.m. national show is also now the # 1 commercial show for men aged 25 to 54 nationwide.

“Brisbane remains a very competitive and very tight market with both the B105 and the Triple M in the peloton delivering good results.

“In Adelaide, we remain calmly confident that SAFM will return to the market, a positive increase led by Bec, Cosi and Lehmo which is now the No.2 FM Breakfast show in Adelaide. SAFM and Triple M in Adelaide were the only two FM breakfast shows to increase their audience share.

“Finally, Perth continues to be a strong market for SCA with Mix94.5 in second overall, and Carrie and Tommy reduce the gap in Drive with a good increase in the share.

Nationally, it was a good result for the Hit network Carrie and Tommy remains stable or increases in four out of five markets as it continues to build a huge national audience.

“The digital transformation of our business has resulted in record live streaming on Hit and Triple M as the number of people turning to radio for live streaming continues to grow. It shows the strength of our product and the strength of our brands. ”
