Peter Obi’s group slams Atiku over election comments
The Peter Obi Support Network has mocked People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for his comments that Labor Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi has no chance of winning the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku, in a national television broadcast, said that Obi could not win the 2023 presidential election because the Labor Party had no elected governor on its platform and had no members in the National Assembly.
But reacting to the comment, the Peter Obi Group called the former vice-president’s comments “unsolicited and clearly misguided political consultation”.
The group said so in a press release through its spokesperson Comrade Sani Altukry and made available to reporters on Saturday.
Altukry said Atiku wrongly based his permutation for the 2023 election on the supposed influence of corruption-promoting and vote-buying mercenaries, called political structure.
He said the PDP presidential flag bearer takes the people for granted by ignoring their unassailable powers and acknowledging them as the main determinants of electoral victory.
He said: “Sovereignty belongs to the people. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s assertion speaks of the delusions of the fascist school of thought which believes that the masses do not matter and mistakenly believes that the masses cannot think for themselves.
“In essence, Atiku is saying that Nigerians are a kind of slaves who cannot make political decisions on their own unless it is forced upon them by their slave masters.
“This misconception is a thing of the past, and so we assure the former Vice President and those in his class who have such a derogatory perception of Nigerians that a new Nigeria is here and Nigerians are ready to take their destiny. in hand.”
He insisted that Peter Obi’s candidacy is not just a political project but a national movement to wake up Nigerians to take their destiny into their own hands.
He added that people are ready to break the shackles and shackles for which they are ridiculed as “sub-citizens”, with the so-called structure being the one that decides where their votes go.
The statement read in part: “The attention of Peter Obi Support Network has been drawn to a recorded interview with His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in which he gave unsolicited and clearly erroneous political advice on who can win elections and who can’t win.
“The seventh time presidential candidate is said to have claimed that today’s most popular presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, cannot win the 2023 presidential election because the Labor Party has no governor elected on his platform and counts members of the National Assembly LP.
“Unfortunately, the former vice president based his entire permutation on the supposed influence of corruption-promoting, vote-buying mercenaries, euphemistically called the political structure, and failed to take into account the unassailable powers of the masses of the Nigeria, which are in fact the most powerful force in a democracy and the main determinants of electoral victory.
“We are banking on the votes of millions of dissatisfied but genuinely patriotic Nigerians who want to see a truly independent, prosperous and flourishing democratic Nigeria.
“And every day, as we move from community to community, market to market, mosque to mosque and church to church, we are encouraged by the passion displayed by these Nigerians for a new Nigeria, functional and productive under the leadership of Mr. Peter Obi and Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.
“We expected the former Vice President, having confirmed the undeniable competence, integrity and wide acceptability of Mr. Peter Obi, to demonstrate his genuine love for Nigeria and a genuine desire for his progress in abandoning his ambition to be President of Nigeria and endorsing Mr. Peter Obi who has shown practical readiness and preparedness to pull Nigeria out of the precipice of total collapse.
“We hope Alhaji Abubakar will read the handwriting on the wall and do the needful.”
