Men’s Hoops look to sweep all-season series on TSU with Monday night home game

• Since the first meeting in 1980, MSU is 27-11 against TSU in games played at Morehead.

• Morehead State extended its home winning streak to 17 games with victory over SIUE on Saturday. MSU’s current winning streak in home games is tied for fourth in the nation, tied with Kansas. This current streak is the second-longest in program history, behind the 2009-10 and 2010-11 teams that combined for a school-record 23 home games.

• Over the past two seasons, when the schedule changed to the New Year, Morehead State has been almost unbeatable. MSU is 25-2 through the months of January, February and March in 2020-21 and 2021-22, including a perfect 15-0 in January games. MSU has only lost to Belmont (on the road) and West Virginia (in the NCAA Tournament) during that span.

• During the Eagles’ eight-game winning streak, the Eagles shot 45% or better overall against all eight opponents. In half of those contests, the Eagles have connected 50% or better.

• Over the past four games, MSU has gone 48% (38 of 78) from three-point range.

John Broome is on the Lou Henson Awards Watch List for the second season in a row. The award honors the top mid-major player in the nation.

John Broome leads the OVC and is tied for fourth in the nation in double-doubles with 12 this season. He now has 25 double-doubles in 49 career games. Morehead State is 21-4 the past two seasons when Broome records a double-double.

John Broome blocked six shots against SIUE, marking the sixth game this year he has recorded six blocks. He also enters the game with at least 2+ blocks in six straight games.

• Ta’Lon Cooper leads the OVC and ranks sixth nationally with 6.4 assists per game. Cooper has 10 games with 7+ assists, including a pair of 12 assists. He now has 327 career assists, which is eighth in the program’s career history. Cooper needs just three more assists to move former scorer Nikola Stojakovic to seventh in program career history.

Hollowell Tray hit at least one three-pointer in all 19 games in 2021-22 and has a 26-game streak with at least one three-ball since last season at Wofford. Hollowell recently scored his 1,000th career collegiate point and enters the TSU game with 1,026 career points.

• Junior guard Skyelar Potter has regained his shooting touch in the last two games. He scored 17 against Belmont and SIUE, shooting 12 for 21 (.571) overall and 7 for 12 (.583) from three-point range.

• While Hollowell Tray reached the 1,000 point plateau, three other current Eagles are moving ever closer to that milestone. Wright State Transfer Jaylon Room has 844 collegiate points, while compatriot Wright State Transfer Skyelar Potter has 822. In less than two seasons, John Broome is already at 719. With potentially two more seasons after that, Ta’Lon Cooper also has a shot at joining the club with 635 career markers right now.
