Infostellar integrates the AWS ground station into its mission control software – SatNews



Infostellaire Inc. collaborates with Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) to make AWS Ground Station available in StellarStation. The combination will give satellite operators more opportunities to communicate with their space workloads, link geospatial data faster and easier, and reduce the time it takes to transmit data to decision makers on Earth. Infostellar also plans to leverage AWS for customer onboarding, testing, and other integration activities to reduce the time it takes to scale successful operations on a global ground network.

Satellite operators need an increasingly large global footprint of satellite antennas and extensive ground networks to get decision makers the most recent satellite data and track and manage rapidly changing conditions. Larger ground coverage areas also give satellite operators more options for linking their data during each orbit.

The AWS Ground Station network enables customers to cost-effectively control satellite operations, ingest satellite data, integrate data with applications and other services running in AWS, and scale operations without having to worry about worry about building or managing their own ground infrastructure.

StellarStation offers satellite operators a common interface to take advantage of ground stations from a variety of vendors around the world so that they can plan satellite passes and monitor and exchange data as standard.

Now, with AWS and Infostellar, there is a need to scale globally in the cloud, as operators do not need to send engineers to every site in the world. Instead, they can reuse their integration and testing efforts across multiple global locations simultaneously.

The combination of AWS Ground Station and StellarStation helps satellite operators provide customers with near real-time data through an extended ground coverage area, including an automated ground network with virtual data and management capabilities mission.

With AWS Ground Station API integration on StellarStation, customers will be able to schedule contacts on both ground networks from a single scheduling interface and specify data endpoints in their AWS Management Console or in their own data reception facility.

With AWS Ground Station, Infostellar customers can immediately access AWS storage, compute, and analytics services, such as Simple Amazon Storage Services (Amazon S3), to store downloaded data; Amazon Kinesis Data Stream, to manage data ingestion from satellites; and Amazon SageMaker to create custom machine learning applications that can be applied to a wide variety of data sets.

Customer integration, including spectrum licenses, will be coordinated between the two ground operators. Among the first customers of AWS Ground Station on the StellarStation mission control software, we could mention the Japanese space start-up ALE Co, Ltd.
