Coyotes head west for a duel with San Jose State
South Dakota travels to San Jose state for a 9 p.m. (CST) tip on Tuesday night at the Event Center Arena in San Jose, Calif.

South Dakota (4-2) won three straight home games last week, but the Coyotes are looking for their first road victory in three tries. The Coyotes lost an 83-70 decision to Nebraska on Saturday in the Nebraska MTE Championship game. Kruz Perrott-Hunt led the USD with 19 points against the Huskers and an average of 17 in all three MTE games. He leads a trio of Coyotes who are averaging double-digit points in six games. In addition to 15.2 points per game, the top of the Perrott-Hunt team, Xavier fuller and Mason Archambault have an average of 12.0 and 11.7 points per competition.
San Jose State (2-3) is under the guidance of first-year head coach Tim Miles. A native of South Dakota, Miles is in his 25th season as a head coach, with previous stops in Nebraska, Colorado State, North Dakota State, Southern State -Western Minnesota and in the State of Mayville. Two of the Spartans’ losses this season have come against Power 5 opponents – Stanford and No.8 Texas. Three-year-old starting goalie Omari Moore leads the team with 15.5 points per game while shooting at 58.5 %. He lost 28 points, including the winning dunk with four seconds on the clock, in the Spartans’ 75-74 win over northern Colorado last week.
Tuesday will only be the fourth meeting in the all-time series between these programs. San Jose State leads 2-1 with the Coyotes winning the last game between the teams, 76-62, on December 17, 2017.
One last thing
Assistant Coach Coyote Eddie hill returns to a program where he previously coached in San Jose State. As SJSU’s recruiting coordinator, Hill recruited the nation’s 17th recruiting class in 1999.
