Capitol Hill security forces will be able to report issues anonymously to the House committee

Capitol Hill security members will be able to file whistleblower complaints about potential wrongdoing directly with a congressional committee, Representative Rodney Davis said on Monday.
The Illinois Republican is the leading member of the Committee on House Administration, one of four overseeing the United States Capitol Police and one of two overseeing the Sergeant-at-Arms from the room.
The online form is intended to give House Security employees and Capitol Police officers a way to get anonymous advice.
“By creating this confidential point of sale for officers and security personnel to report issues, our committee will be able to better understand and resolve issues with the security structure of Congress,” the committee said in a statement.
In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 uprising on the U.S. Capitol, several officers chose to speak anonymously of a lack of preparation, disappointment in leadership, and friction with members of Congress and their staff. .
“I know that not all officers or employees on the base are comfortable speaking publicly about these issues, but it is important that we hear them and it provides them with a confidential means of doing so,” Davis said in a statement. “We have needed greater transparency and accountability within our security system for a long time and I hope this helps.”
Several reports by the Inspector General of the Capitol Police as well as the report of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security of January 6 have extracted valuable information on security failures from interviews with rank and file officers including the his identity has not been publicly disclosed.
CNN also recently reported that following the riot, the department’s professional liability office was inundated with advice from officers on allegations of misconduct in the ranks. Dozens of officers were investigated and disciplinary action recommended in six cases.
