BOISE, Idaho – Boise State welcomes a Big 12 Oklahoma State opponent, ranked 22nd in the coaching poll, on Saturday in prime time.

The Boise State football team will host the Oklahoma State No.22 in the Broncos’ first regular-season Big 12 Conference school meeting in Albertsons Stadium history on Saturday, September 18. The Broncos and Cowboys are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on FS1. Boise State and Iowa State met in the 2002 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, in what was then known as Bronco Stadium. The Broncos defeated the Cyclones, 34-16, December 31, 2002.
The remaining opponents on Boise State’s 2021 football schedule are a combined 18-3 (.857) so far in 2021. Based on the remaining opponents’ winning percentage, only LSU (17-2; .895) has a schedule that remains more difficult at the national level. The Broncos’ combined record for the 12 regular season opponents is 22-4 (0.846), the highest winning percentage on the full 2021 calendar of any FBS school.
Ahead of the 2020 season, which due to the COVID-19 pandemic forced the capacity of the Albertsons Stadium to 1,100 or less, Bronco Nation contributed to an environment that produced 44 false starts by opposing teams from 2018- 19. That score was the highest of any stadium in the country, as were the Bronco opponents 3.14 false starts per game. The UTEP recorded three false starts last week, the first attendance since the 2019 Mountain West Championship against Hawai’i, on December 7, 2019. The 47 false starts of the opponent of Boise State and 3.13 of those penalties by match both led the country in the 2018-19 season. seasons 19 and 2021.
Boise State and Oklahoma State have only met once, on September 15, 2018, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Cowboys, ranked No. 24 at the time, upset the Broncos, ranked 17th, 44-21.
AGAINST THE BIG 12
This will only be the Broncos’ fifth all-time meeting against a Big 12 school. Boise State eliminated Iowa State in the 2002 Humanitarian Bowl (34-16; Dec. 31, 2002) and Oklahoma in the Fiesta 2007 Bowl (43-42, OT; Jan. 1, 2007), but fell to Baylor in the 2016 Cactus Bowl (31-12; Dec. 27, 2016) and Oklahoma State during the 2018 regular season (44-21; Sep 15, 2018).
