Baseball Drops series finale at No. 4 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss twice held the lead but couldn’t keep it Sunday afternoon at No. 4 Arkansas, falling in the series finale at Baum-Walker Stadium, 4-3.

Entrance Derek Diamond received the loss, allowing four runs in 4.2 innings of work. John Gaddis delivered 2.1 relief shutout innings, while Brandon Johnson pitched his own scoreless inning.

The Rebels took the lead from first as Bench Justin drew a first step, moved on to second on wild terrain and brought home on by Tim Elko single point in the center.

Arkansas responded in the third, taking a 2-1 lead on Chris Lanzilli’s big two-point steal to center field. The Rebs regained the lead in the following half, however, with Alderman of Kemp follow Elko’s walk and by Kevin Graham double with a single to the right, bringing the two home to make it 3-2.

Another two-point shot put the Razorbacks back on top in fifth. Lanzilli’s single to put a runner and Michael Turner doubled up a two-point job on the right field wall, pushing the Hogs ahead 4-3.

Ole Miss loaded the bases in the ninth but couldn’t make it with the clutch shot, giving up a close deal to close the series.

Ole Miss resumes SEC play next weekend at home, hosting Missouri in a three-game series at Swayze Field. All three games will air on SEC Network+ and can be heard via the Ole Miss Radio Network.
